SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Last week we learned that every time Jesus visited a home something supernatural happened. He delivered JOY to the wedding of Canaan, HEALTH to Peter’s mother-in-law, RESTORATION to the paralytic, REPENTANCE to the house of Levi, ANOINTING and FORGIVENESS to the house of Simon, and RESURRECTION to the Jairus’ house. Every time Jesus enters a home, miracles happen!

LET’S GO DEEPER

Let’s learn about six other times Jesus visited homes and what happened in His presence:

7. RHEMA WORD (Martha and Mary’s house)

Read Luke 10:38-42

Martha, Mary and Lazarus’ house was one of the homes Jesus visited most frequently. Jesus teaches us a great lesson when He exhorts Martha who cared too much about household chores, while Mary concentrated on hearing His message.

“But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42)

Put your worries aside today, ask Jesus to enter your house, and prepare your heart to hear the Word of life that will give you the faith you need to obtain your miracle.

8. SALVATION (Zacchaeus’ house)

Read Luke 19:1-10

When Jesus saw the amount of effort Zacchaeus’s put in to meet Him, He offered to visit this tax collector’s house. Zacchaeus felt privileged, acknowledged his sins and decided to change his life, apologizing to the people he had let down and making right all he had done wrong.

Seeing this man’s repented heart, Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham” (Luke 19:9).

You need to know that Jesus also wants to enter your home with salvation and give you and your family a new beginning!

9. COMMUNION (The Upper Room)

Read Luke 22:10-14

According to various Bible experts, the house mentioned in this passage belonged to Mark the evangelist. This is where the disciples were well received and prepared the best space in the house for the Lord’s Supper.

“…with fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer…” (Luke 22:15)

When you give the Lord Jesus the first place in your home, you and your family can enjoy being in communion in the presence of God. Believe that as of today harmony and peace rule over your home!

10. REDEMPTION (Caiaphas’ house)

READ Matthew 26:57

This was the only time Jesus was taken to a house involuntarily. It was in the high priest’s house where Jesus was judged in order to be condemned to death.

“Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death…” (Matthew 26:59)

Often in our own home we raise our voices to judge our relatives and people around us without realizing that Jesus is also there with us. Reflect and see if your words have been of judgment towards your neighbor.
Remember that this visit started the process of REDEMPTION FOR HUMANITY.

11. VISION (The house in Emmaus)

Read Luke 24:13-35

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to the disciples on the way to Emmaus, but they did not recognize him. However, upon being invited to enter their house and spend the night, Jesus broke the bread and gave it to them. it was in that moment that their eyes were opened and they could see that Jesus had always been among them.

“The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” (Luke 24:34)

Jesus wants to give you spiritual vision. And not just to you, but also to your entire family so that you could all know and walk in God’s calling for your lives.

12. THE HOLY SPIRIT (The disciples’ house)

Read John 20:19-23

After Jesus’ death and resurrection, the disciples grew very afraid of the Jews. But the Lord appeared to them in the house where they were gathered and calmed them when “… He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.”
In moments when you feel alone and afraid, during trials and when it feels like all the doors are closed, the Lord Jesus is with you and sends His Spirit to calm your heart.
Whatever your need may be, the Lord Jesus continues to knock because He wants to enter and transform your life and home. He longs to pour out His Spirit in your home. You just have to invite Him in through a simple prayer.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

CHALLENGE

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to your heart each of the purposes that Jesus had in visiting each of these homes. It is a special time to be sensitive to His direction and thus be able to deliver the correct and timely message for each family you are going to visit.
