Let’s build a future for the family

Psalm 112:1-3
“Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.”

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

The purpose of marriage is for God’s character to be replicated through the family. Although God is a triune being, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, they are always in perfect harmony. When He established the family, God put His character in each of its members so that between the man, woman and the children there would also be complete harmony.

When a family surrenders completely to God, they must decide to be guided by His Word. As a result, an atmosphere of holiness will arise and completely flood their home. God needs men and women to make a difference with fewer words and more with their example. This is the atmosphere that God wants for your home.

LET’S GO DEEPER

1. THE MAN BUILDS HIS FAMILY’S DESTINY

The man determines his children’s destiny. Fathers have the power to make their kids the happiest people on earth or the most miserable because their words are authority over their family.

What good is it for man to build the house, if there is no one in his family to live in it after him? This is what happened to Napoleon, who with all his military success could not conquer this area. Sadly, he died without being able to build a dynasty. How many wealthy people would give up to half of their possessions to just hear the cry of a newborn child in their home?

Children are the inheritance God gives us; if a man died without them, he would leave his legacy unfinished. A warrior is happy that his arrows can fly and go where he cannot, for good children are like arrows that are launched to the target by their parents.

2. BUILDING SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY FOR YOUR FAMILY

The Bible contains the parameters to achieve success and happiness in all areas of our life. We are clearly told that prosperity is for all who fear God and for their offspring. The one who fears God delights in His commandments, in other words, he enjoys fulfilling the standards established by the Lord. The man who delights in fulfilling God’s plans will be blessed, also making his offspring powerful on the earth. Note that Scripture is clear that success will be “on earth.” It does not say “in heaven”, because there we already have everything secured.

We have been able to confirm that the guidance of the Word of God benefits the family completely because in it we find teachings about how spouses and parents should behave, educate their children, etc. God wants His children to enjoy living in a family, so He teaches us: “Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives”, and adds, “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered” (1 Peter 3:1, 7).

3. GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR YOUR FAMILY

Through faith, Enoch was translated so as not to see death. Through faith, Noah built the ark in which he and his family were saved. Through faith, Abraham made all the families of the earth be blessed in. By faith, Isaac reaped what he sowed one hundred fold. Through faith, Jacob changed the curse into blessing. By faith, Joseph protected his family and provided for them during a famine that lasted seven years. Through faith, Hannah changed her barrenness to fruitfulness. By faith, David cut Goliath’s head off. Through faith, Esther changed the curse that was decreed against her people into blessing, honor and joy. Through faith, Paul managed to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Roman empire. Everything you want to conquer today can be done through your faith in Jesus!

4. A FAMILY’S BIGGEST PROTECTION

“He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies” (Psalms 112:7-8). When a person puts his trust in the Lord he has full assurance that God will take care of his family, he knows it in his heart. The consequence of this is that as a son you will enjoy your parents, and as a parent you will enjoy your children, as a husband you will enjoy your wife, etc.

CHALLENGE

Guide people to invite Jesus into their family. Encourage them to declare in prayer that they will walk in the purpose God has for them and fulfill God’s call as a family. Encourage them to start their family altar, where they share a Word together, have times of intercession and pray for those who have not yet come to Jesus.
